Respond to Review of The Chicago Diner
Review: Since I've moved back, I've decided to re-review The Chicago Diner. As a Chicagoan I say this is the #1 place you should try. It's safe to say that I've been coming to Chicago Diner for about 9 years now and I have never been displeased with their food. I'm partial to all of their Seitan dishes; The Reuben is the best sandwich I've ever had and you should try this one first [all of my non-veg friends love it], Philly Cheese Steak is awesome, Gyros are mighty tasty, Dagwood is supposed to be the #2 seller there - I think it's good and not amazing like the other sandwiches, Beef and Cheddar Melt is good, etc. All of the aforementioned sandwiches are Vegan or can be made Vegan. I've also had other random things like the Vegan breakfast dish consisting of tofu with "steak" which is also very tasty. I recently discovered their Vegan ranch dressing, it's AMAZINGLY GOOD! I'm one of those Vegans who missed fries with ranch dressing and this is the perfect substitute. If you want to take any home, they'll sell it to you by the pint as the waiter told me. :) As far as beverages, I love their fresh apple juice, the shakes [made with Temptation ice cream (by Chicago Soy Dairy)] is, in my opinion, way too thick. I think the cheesecake is OK, but I don't really like raw cheesecake-like items. The cookies are always good, and as far as the cake, I'm not too keen on the frosting. The service is always great, and when weather permits, the outdoor patio seating behind the building is lovely. Chicago Diner is one of my #1 places to eat in Chicago.
