Respond to Review of Woodlands Vegan Bistro

Review: Woodlands Vegan Bistro is a cafe on Georgia Avenue formerly known as Everlasting Life (although the signage and menus don't yet reflect that change). What a few years ago was a grungy grocery with a little carry-out area in the back has morphed into a sort of cafe. You still have to go to the back to get your order and pay the friendly cashier (grabbing bottled drinks from the refrigerator near the cash register), but you have a comfortable place to enjoy your food. Woodlands is vegan soul food, although a healthy meal can be had if you stick to the raw salads.(such as the delicious vinaigrette kale). Or you can enjoy one of the hot entrees (which vary from day to day) or a sandwich. Prices are pretty reasonable, and the last time I was there, the portions were quite generous. My boyfriend's "cheese steak" sandwich was huge! And the fried "chicken" (offered as an entree on Saturdays) is to die for! Woodlands is in a sort of sketchy neighborhood north of Shaw, and there's no reserved parking, but it's near several bus lines and a little more than half a mile from the Georgia Avenue Metro station (Green Line). This is not a problem for me, as I don't own a car. And it's totally worth it for the food.
