Respond to Review of Watercourse Foods
Review: Watercourse is our favorite Denver restaurant. We've eaten here dozens of times over many years, and it keeps getting better, with more creative, gourmet-leaning specials from the very competent chef. Watercourse is extraordinarily vegan-friendly, which we very much appreciate. We also love its sister restaurant, City O City, but Watercourse, being significantly quieter, is a more conducive setting for actually talking over a meal. Favorites from the Watercourse menu: - Polenta cakes - Dona Lee wrap - Po-Boy sandwich with mushrooms (the artichoke option is also good, but a bit dry) - Amsterdam hash (great gravy!) - The vegan milkshakes (huge, so consider sharing one) - Nearly everything in the dessert case (all of which are vegan!) The only items we don't particularly enjoy are the Asian-inspired dishes, which are too Americanized for our tastes, though some people seem to like them. The portions are so generous that we usually wind up taking something home. Consider bringing your own take-out container. One tip for healthy and happy dining at Watercourse: Many of their main dishes are rich/fried/oily/heavy, so when choosing side dishes, we highly recommend picking the lighter and fresher options, like salad or spring greens, rather than going for the fried sides, which can cause cumulative overwhelm in the gut. Finally, we also really appreciate that Watercourse supports charitable projects doing good work in the world. Until Denver gets a proper all-vegan restaurant, Watercourse is likely to remain our first choice. Enjoy!
