Respond to Review of CLOSED: Fork
by Leo Rademakers

Review: It may be have been the best restaurant in Rijeka for vegetarians, but that didn't stop the Croatian Ministry of Health to close it down. We went there last week (end of july 2011) and the whole place was sealed and closed, with a terrifying-looking warning of some ministry in Croatian -which I do not understand- . I'm very sorry, but the restaurant seems to have made some mistakes in the recent past... Vegetarians will have to turn to the usual Italian restaurants in Rijeka or the restaurant of the hotel Bonavia. It is quite close to where Fork used to be and it serves a good veggie salad. For the rest vegetarians will not easily be satisfied in the Kvarner/Istria region of Croatia...

I was there today, the notice is not from the ministry of health but from the national inspectorate, and it seems to be handled by some department of workplace issues or something like that, not the sanitary inspection. Their Facebook page says they reopen on August 22, 2011, after a month of forced closure.

Apparently due to my not understanding Croatian, I have drawn the wrong conclusion from the ministerial announcement on Fork's frontdoor. Thanks JoyS and my apologies to Fork!
