Respond to Review of New Leaf Community Market - Westside

Review: This is 1 of 6 stores in the New Leaf chain on the Central Coast. This is one of the Big Box type of health food stores. Though there are quite a few of nice vegan options, I feel like vegans are definately under-represented in realtion to the size and amount of product. That being said, the whole store does strive for an organic and locally produced product representation. Nice produce section, though a bit pricey. Dairy section has a good selection of vegan milks(hemp/rice/almond/soy)plus a few vegan cheeses, spreadsand butters, and basic and flavored tofus, tempehs, and seitans. Also soyrizo and vegan sausage, bacon, etc. Great selection of dairy cheeses. Bulk section is basic, mainly beans, grains, cereals and some treats. All the basic canned and packaged foods for veg and vegans. A few vegan treats scattered throughout the store, but a nice selection of vegan chocolate. Household items tend to run organic with vegan options, from laundry detergent to pet food. Also toothpastes and deoderants with nice vegan options. Good bulk herb and tea selection. Lots of packaged items throughout the store. Frozen foods run the gamut for veg/ans, from frozen pizzas to entrees to mock meats - quite a few options. Deli has great vegan and veg fresh made sandwiches, and usually a couple of veg and vegan options in the deli food case. Lots of pre-packaged vegan burritos/wraps/sushis/ethnic food choices. Pricey hot food bar($7.99 per lb.)is not very veg friendly except in the morning(before 11am)when they have tofu scramble and vegan potatos. Always have 3 hot soups with 1 veg and 1 vegan($4 to $7), and a nice antipasta bar($9.99 per lb.). Salad bar has great selection, all organic, good vegan options like baked tofu and tempeh($7.99 per lb.) Does have a nice outdoor seating section with bfireplace. Also hosts an array of classes and lectures geared toward sustainable, local, and organic food and lifestyle. Store has a meat section which is secluded and unintrusive.
