Respond to Review of La Lumiere du Mile End
Review: A few friends and I decided to try this place when La Depanneur cafe next door was full. Big mistake that I paid for later with a stomach ache. At first glance the decor looked festive but as the four of us waited forever for our food I looked around and it felt like the place was really grubby and dirty which is one of my biggest resto turn offs, even when the food is good... which it kind of wasnt. I figure when a restaurant is dirty in the dining area god only knows what lurks behind the scenes. I dont know if the person working there was having a bad day but she was really rude when I (nicely, I promise) complained that my black bean burger was dry. It tasted like it had been sitting in the back of the fridge for a week and then was half heartedly reheated. My friends had a similar experience and we all wished that we would have just waited for a table at the cafe next door. I hate to sound like a jerk and not say anything nice... and there is no zero cows option so I will say that it does have a really cool old tin ceiling, kind of like (the much superior) casa del popolo.
