Respond to Review of The Happy Pear
Review: For a terrific day or half-day trip take the DART train from Dublin to the town of Bray (a 40-minute trip south of the city). Get out and head toward the water; look for signs for the "Cliff Walk." Despite the name, this is not a harrowing walk but a beautiful, seaside walk that passes sheep in pastures, wild flowers and stone walls. This 7km walk brings you to the town of Greystones. (Takes around two hours at a moderate pace. There are some uphill patches but it's not a strenuous walk.) In Greystones, find your way to the center of town. (Green signs for the DART station will lead you there; so will foot and car traffic patterns.) Along the main street you'll find Happy Pear, a cheerful, yummy vegetarian restaurant. (One half of the building is an organic market with beautiful produce and a small selection of packaged goods.) The restaurant offers two soups (today it was Carrot, Lentil and Apricot and Tomato with Roasted Vegetables), two hot main dishes (moussaka and Thai curry over quinoa today) and a salad bar with eight or so offerings. There are also delicious looking desserts from carrot cake and banana bread to brownies, muffins and spelt flour/seed cookies. There are tables out front on the sidewalk and upstairs in a sunny dining room. This is the type of place that makes you happy to feel alive. After a leisurely meal you can stroll through the town, visit the beach and then take the train from Greystones back to Dublin. A delightful way to spend several hours (especially when it's sunny!).
