Respond to Review of CLOSED: Fressen

Review: It's rare to find a vegan restaurant that does brunch, so I was excited to head to Fressen to check out the brunch offerings. The brunch menu had multiple choice, yet had a clean lay-out. I had the nut-encrusted French toast goodness, and the other two people with me had the fritters and the avocado sandwich, respectively. All of us had cappuccinos. The food was EXCELLENT, and the restaurant seemed clean (you could even see into the kitchen when you went up to pay,) but the service was pretty lacking. It wasn't so much outright rude as very surly and crusty. Also, when one of us ordered a cappuccino (after seeing how good they looked,) it never came: we had to ask a different server for one. The server who took the cash register as we were paying was reluctant to split the cheque into three (though we had made it clear at the beginning that we would each be paying separately,) and we had to assist her with the calculations. Despite the not so pleasant service, we left a tip (we all get that it's difficult working in a restaurant,) that worked out to about 25 % of the total bill and the server just stared at the money like we aliens or something. There was an appetizer, soup, a main, another course, and dessert. My dining partner and I also shared a bottle of Ontario white wine. Everything was delicious. And the service was polite and of OK speed - though we had to rush at the end to get out of the restaurant before midnight. Overall though, amazing dinner an awesome way to start out New Year's Eve celebrations. I thoroughly enjoyed. Updated from previous review on Monday September 17, 2012
