Review: After a disappointing meal at Jyoti (compared to a year ago) I decided to try Taj Mahal for a comparison. The staff spoke English but weren't the least bit interested in helping with what was vegan - quite a contrast to Jyoti in that regard. They just opened the menu to the vegetarian page and said that the paneer curry had cheese but otherwise none contained dairy; this was despite the fact that one was described as having a "rich sauce" and a picture which clearly showed a yoghurt swirl on top. And when asked further they just pointed to the descriptions (eg "potatoes in a rich cury sauce" and said I could read them and choose what I wanted?! They also suggested a set meal with Nan, which of course is made with milk and egg. They are clearly doing a roaring trade with the locals and aren't interested in difficult foreigners who are picky about ingredients. This was a stark contrast to the Niseko branch, where staff were very helpful, I guess because so many of their clientele are foreign skiers.
