Respond to Review of Ethos Vegan Kitchen
Review: When I heard about a new vegan restaurant opening up in Orlando I was very excited. I have been vegan for four years and have always had to cook or go to Garden Cafe for a good meal. After going to restaurants around the States such as Red Bamboo in NYC, Watercourse in Denver, Chicago Diner in Chicago and various other reputable restaurants, I found Ethos to be tolerable if you are starving and aren't low on money. The first time I went there, the portions were enough to keep a normal person full for a half hour, maybe. I thought I'd try it again on July 4th because Ethos advertises that they have new specials every week (which I have yet to see). This was the BIGGEST joke for $10 I've ever seen. It was a Tofurkey sausage (from Whole Foods or Publix)on a bun and a piece of watermelon. Are you serious? When the place first opened they had the nicest front end employees...always polite and never judgmental. Recently, they hired some elitist, judgmental hipsters who have been less than friendly. In fact, when I said I wasn't ready to order yet this new girl at the counter rolled her eyes at me. If you call that customer service, I'm surprised people are still spending money there. If you don't dress like a crust punk or if you have showered in the last week, don't expect to be treated as an equal by some of the people on this staff. I emphasize some because there are still a few very kind people there. I like the idea of Ethos and I support the vegan hot dog guy who started it, but I just wish they would set the bar a little higher. Just because there aren't a lot of choices in Orlando doesn't mean you should overcharge or skimp on portion. I'll spend my money at Garden Cafe.
