Respond to Review of Juicy Jones- Cardenal
Review: We stayed in El Raval (the neighbourhood just the other side of Las Ramblas from the Gothic Quarter) and were plesantly surprised to find the Hospital Street branch only about a 5 minute walk away: it's very central. We went there twice and were overjoyed to find somewhere that was 100% vegan - no having to check the ingredients etc. It was all just so easy - the staff who served us spoke good English and were friendly, and the service was very quick. The food itself was ok - I had the lasagne which was a bit odd - it was not the pasta / "meat" / tomato sauce/cheese sauce concoction that you normally think of as lasagne, but a strange pale mixture containing walnuts. Not unpleasant, just not what I'd call a lasagne. The chocolate cake I had for pudding was very strange tasting and a bit dry - actually I couldn't finish it as it was so strange - I think it had cinnamon in it which really didn't go with the chocolate. That said, my husband's milkshake was very good, and the other things on the menu (we both had the plat du jour) sounded delicious - if we'd been there just for a snack we'd have loved to have tried the tofu sandwiches and some of the juices. It's great that raw foodies can eat here too - this must be unique? The atmosphere was quite relaxed, though the restaurant was a bit noisy for me. Great for what it was - not somewhere you'd go for a romantic dinner but a godsend for vegans nonetheless.
