This is my favorite place to eat when in Houston. It's not listed yet here, but the menu has a lot of vegetarian choices. It's sort of tucked away just behind another business located off Richmond, you're lucky really if you even catch the sign for it. I just love this place, the patio has a giant Oak tree growing through the middle of it, the menu items are named from Tolkien's books, and maps of middle earth are on the walls, they have an awesome beer selection, Pyramid Hefeweizen. I love avocado sandwiches, and this place must put 2 whole ones on their sandwiches, the portions are humongous. Also the couscous burger, and the tabbouleh are excellent. The only con would be that the portions are so big half of it ends up falling out on the plate, in which case I like their food so much I end up eating the rest with a fork. You might want to ask them to go easy on the avocado, or the portions in general, as it really is a ridiculous amount of food sandwiched between thin pieces of bread.

Though it is all way out in the Bellaire section of Houston, Quan Yin is worth the drive. The restaurant has an extensive menu of vegan Vietnamese and Chinese fare. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the menu has pictures of most of the dishes. The veggie "beef" cubes, served with sticky rice, are delicious. The fried rice with vegan "pork" is another tasty option. The soups are excellent. The only drawback to this gem of a place is that it's so far out!

This is the best kept secret in Houston. It is a natural foods store that has opened a restaurant inside. The restaurant has only been opened a year; but they have a 75 foot salad bar and fresh natural vegetarian foods. It is called Sandy's Market. The address is 12171 Katy Frwy. Houston, Tx 281-870-9999 I did not notice it here. You guys should check it out; if you have not already.

This restaurant is absolutely wonderful! The food is fresh and delicious. The ambience is wonderful because they don't play loud music, mostly popular classical such as Claire De Lune or Vivaldi in a quiet mode. I can't say enough good things. I have no financial connection with them whatsoever except as a very satisfied customer. Parking may be a problem at lunch because they are in a strip shop center which is busy at that time. We go mostly late afternoon or evening. I love the buffet but I also love items on their menu. The buffet is not served week-nights, just on weekends and at lunch during week days.
