do not eat at Burritoville. I ordered a vegetarian burrito and it was full of meat. They were unapologetic and did not care

I bought a copy of the cookbook "Dining with Friends" and I love it! The recipes are easy, the food is delicious, and the book is beautiful to look at. I'm also very excited about the Friends of Animals restaurant guide for NYC. It has all my favorite haunts as well as a lot of new ones I want to try out. (They also have listings for 4 more cities.) Mmmmmmm!

The book Ms. Cameron references is called "Dining with Friends," and it's one of the best vegan cookbooks I've seen.

Friends of Animals is offering a beautifully produced vegan cookbook just in time for the holidays. Go international, or stay local, the recipes included will take you anywhere, & you can do it elegantly or simply. This book is a lively dialogue with food that does not compromise humane & environmental ethics for flavor. Check it out on the Friends of Animals.org website. Hearty Appetite!

As of this posting, we still can not figure out whether Pan Pangea will be reopening. However, you can easily find another favorite spot in the "Vegan Restaurant Guide" for NYC produced by Friends of Animals. All the listings have been tried & judged great for happy eating. The guide can be viewed or ordered online at . And, FYI, if you're planning to do any traveling, FoA also produces guides for D.C., Frisco, Seattle, & L.A.

Does anybody have any idea what happened to what was supposed to become my favorite restaurant in Manhattan, Pan Pangea? I've been calling for the past two months, no answer - and just recently I called to find that their number has been disconnected. There is a sign outside that said they were remodeling but I can't understand why they would even need to. It was such a cute place. I've been searching on the web and can't find anything about it either. Any ideas what may have happened to them and if they will be back?

Thanks!

note
Last time I check (which to be fair, was a couple of years ago), this place does not have any Vegan options. All pizza have egg in the dough and/or have an egg glaze on the crust.

I'd call myself to double check, but as its Friday night and just before the start of the Jewwish week long Passover Holiday, I am sure they will be closed for a week. The phone number is 212 779 4350. While they deserve to be listed on Happy Cow, they should NOT be indicated as Vegan, as they have nothing for a Vegan to eat.

note
Beware, if you order from Zen Palate they may 1)forget your order 2)erase your address from the computer by accident, or 3)not call you back to fix any of the above! All three happened to me when I ordered from there. Then they didn't even apologize after my friends and I waited over an hour for our food that was not even ordered because they forgot what we wanted! (Horrible service, very rude, not even that good food!) Go to Candle Cafe or Gobo instead!

I've been eating at Pan Pangea almost everyday. The dino wings are amazing and everything is inexpensive. Great take away!
On 1st Ave. and 15 st.

Yes I agree with veganangel. Greasy food. Definitely not the nicest people serving you either.

This place is not as good as it used to be. I think it may have changed ownership. The last time I went, I didn't recognize anyone, and the food was really greasy. I now prefer Uptown Juice Bar. (Luckily, I live right across the street from it!)

Lifethyme has AMAZING raw vegan desserts. Amazing. I'm not even a vegetarian and I love them. You must try their raspberry 'cheesecake', if it's available. Otherwise, I'm sure the other stuff is great too, though I haven't gotten to them yet...

The Best!!! My favorite is eggplant stuffed with herbed tofu cheese. They also have the best carrot cake! I took all my friends both veg and non veg and they all loved it; I would also recommend getting selection of small dishes; Can’t wait to go back.

My husband and I had dinner at Counter just 2 days after the big power outage. Although they had a limited menu and were struggling to get back to normal operation, the service was excellent and the food was incredibly good. If you go, DO NOT MISS the hot fudge sundae! The atmosphere was very cool and we left feeling well fed and relaxed.
