Vistor Notes:

Ali Baba's is an awesome cheap place to eat. Its in front of the Co-op and is a little grocery store w/kitchen. The falafal sandwich is $3.50 and the hummus is the best I've tasted in town. The staff is friendly especially when you become a regular. Service is quick. I can't say a bad thing about it. We also go to Asia Cafe on Leestown Rd, The Pita pit and my favorite place is Tomo's in the Chevy Chase area. Tomo's has an awesome seaweed salad and seaweed soup. The veggie sushi is great. It can be cheap but gets expensive quick. There are alot of sushi restaurants in Lexington due to Toyota being here. All have vegetarian options.

Jonathan's or Bombay Braziere would be my choice for a local "fancy" meals. Jonathan's, arguably the best place in town, has limited veg options. We had veg meatloaf there that was truly amazing and worth every penny of the rather steep bill. Bombay is exceptional Indian food in a beautiful place. For less expensive options consider Sahara on Southland. It is a little counter service place with perhaps two tables, but much better than oasis. The mushroom stew and capuccino milkshake at Natasha's are divine. I think their lunch is buffet and less expensive, but it closes early. There is a great cuban place off Nicholasville Rd. The service is slow, but very friendly and there are lots of veg options. Also, Panda Garden is the great for Chinese. The kung pao tofu is evidence of a higher power. Asian wind has fake meat dishes if you like that kind of thing.
If you are in town and want to just pick something up and head back to the hotel try China Garden on MLK Blvd. It is only served to go and trust me you will want to, but the general tofu is great. Joe Bologna's is an institution for pizza and pasta. They are in an old church near the university, but also will make full meals to go. Be sure you get the bread stick!
