I finally got the chance to visit Santa Cruz... I had anticipated so much, but it turned out to be a pretty low-key and mellow place. There are only a handful of vegetarian restaurants and some health food stores. One neat thing about Santa Cruz is that there are still lots of one-of-a-kind small, local businesses. It hasn't been taken over by corporate America yet.

Are there any vegetarian communities or co-housing in Santa Cruz, CA?

Thanks in advance!

Just wanted to let you guys know asian rose is quite possibly the best vegan food in santa cruz! Also there is a great thai place, Sabieng Thai Cuisine 1218 Mission St, Santa Cruz, CA 95060 Phone: (831) 425-1020. That is not all vegetarian, but have plenty of vegan/vegetarian selections. It is moderately price (2 carrots), probably only 1 carrot during lunch though (you can have a curry with tofu, rice, spring rolls, and peanut sauce all for under $10 during lunch). Excellent food. Thanks such a great site, I use it every time I travel!-Eric
