Visited San Luis Obispo for the first time in December 2011, as a resting point between roadtrip San Francisco-Los Angeles. The main part of downtown is where most restaurants & shops are located. Well-kept and nice. You can walk around and find all the vegetarian and veg-friendly restaurants listed on HappyCow. In general, it's a pretty easy going town. Lots of hills, residential space, and farms outside of downtown. You will need a car.

As a vegetarian and Indian traveling it is hard to find good vegetarian food. The people at this sandwich shop took care of our ever wish and desire. Before our eyes, they cleaned the knives and prepared the food on an alternative surface. An open kitchen is such a rarity and the Cambria Courtyard Deli had the cleanest one I have seen in a long time.
We all recommend this eatery to the vegetarian-coastal traveler.

this place has a great variety of things that a vegan or vegetarian might endulge in. Their deli has a lot of great choices and all of their products are labeled (vegan or Vegi)
