Excellent food. I brought my non-vegan meat loving parents and they thought the food was very good! And the price was great! Only 6.50 pesos per person. Yum.

If you're interested in getting out of the hustle and bustle of old Puerto Vallarta, consider staying in Nuevo Vallarta, which is north of the airport -- about 20 minutes from the heart of downtown. It's a very quiet area with very clean beaches (and, yes, less car exhaust fumes!). We had a lovely stay. As mentioned by the traveler from Ontario, tourists who are driving cars are a target for corrupt police looking for some easy cash. It's just the way it is in Mexico (and has been as long as I can remember). It's so cheap to take a taxi everywhere, don't rent a car if you don't want to play the bribe game with the police. My husband and I were very impressed with the number of excellent vegetarian (and vegetarian-friendly) options in the city. We'll definitely go back when we're ready for another restful, relaxing vacation.

I will not go back! I just got home after spending 7 days at the Royal DeCameron resort. I rented a car and was robbed by a corrupt policeman without radar of $100 on the roadside for failing to slow down for a bump. He didn't care to see my papers for the car or my license. I was going 40km/h over a 3 inch bump. I was told I would spend Thurs-Monday in jail if I didn't pay right then and there. Which also would have meant me and my 4 family members would have missed our saturday flight home. I was also greased for $50 USD by the Royal Decameron Resort for checking out 1 hour late. The only reason we were late checking out is because we waited 45 minutes for the bellboy to help us with our luggage. And when he did show up he broke a bottle of liquor in our luggage and had to spend 20 minutes cleaning it up. I found it to be a highly over rated holiday zone. I had a car a drove all over the place. It smelled terrible and the ocean water was very stinky and dirty. The roads were very poorly to not maintained at all. Other than that, the people were nice but I will never go back again.

I'm quite sure the marine restaurant is closed, but the original on the streets Iturbide and Hidalgo by the Guadalupe church is there!

This restaurant is fantastic. We went there in March of 2004. It is a little hard to find. It is right next to the church and you have to walk up several stairs on the side of the church. It is work the trek up the stairs. It was so delicious. My husband and I went their for lunch, stuffed ourselves on the sumptuous buffet, sat down and people watched on the Malecon until the evening and went back for dinner. The price is so economical. Even if you are not a vegetarian, you will still enjoy the food.
