I have been looking all over the place on the internet for a "Raw" restaurant in Calgary Alberta. Have not found one.

you've noticed that jacques on macleod tr is gone. on june 1, haymarket cafe worker-owned co-op is moving into the space. anarchist vegan coffee shop with some food and a bookstore/infoshop... who knew such a thing could exist in calgary?

I have to say...as someone who is very picky about my food and am well travelled....excellent. I love the originality, friendliness and the food! Smoothies were great. (smile)had trouble figuring out which was the men's or women's bathroom as the doors were just drawings and edlook so much the same. Ha! or maybe that was just the drinks from the bar there.

best cheap coffe in town. vegan and everything made fresh . surprised for such a little cafe. to bad it is in such a crazy location.

Suggest you include Jacques' Cafe, (1101 Macleod Trail SE) which has many organic vegan and vegetarian menu items (The Vegan Curry Stew is AMAZING!), as well as fair trade coffee and tea. Prices are reasonable, atmosphere quaint, a must check out!

From someone who has traveled (and eaten) all over the world, The Coup has my vote as among the best vegetarian restaurants I've ever dined at...and the efforts to serve organic food is a definite bonus for me. I was too full from the peanut tofu dish and sangria to have dessert the first time. But when I did go back another time for cheese cake it was extremely good. I loved the atmosphere, the friendly staff, the very fast service and reasonable prices. I'll be going there again!

We traveled in from Saskatoon for a visit to Calgary. We decided to give the Coup a try and were very happy with it. The food is awesome! The service (ie. how long you have to wait for the food) was exceptional. I don't think I've ever been in a restaurant before with premium quality Vegetarian and organic food with such amazing service. In any event we liked it so much we had to go back. In both cases the meals and deserts were wonderful and I considered the prices to be very reasonable given the quality.

All those who are bashing the Coup, name one better place to get vegetarian food in town. In fact name a place that has better tasting, organic, vegetarian food. Come off it. The Coup is the best thing to hit Calgary since Buddha's Veggie. We should be thankful for what we have as some people in this world would kill just for some rice.

I've been to The Coup, but wouldn't go back. Expensive, miniscule, tasteless portions & slow service = bad experience! This place was awful! They are NOT getting my hard-earned money again!!

Check out my review of Calgary's 'The Coup' in the Best & Worst Places to Eat section of the Discussion Board. There isn't enough room here to say how bad I think this restaurant is!
