a Lotus Blossoms in Paradise

Congratulations to The Blossoming Lotus restaurant in Kauai, Hawaii for receiving the prestigious Ilima Award for "Best Restaurant on Kauai Island," marking the first time in history that a vegetarian restaurant has won "Best of" from among hundreds of restaurants serving all kinds of fare, including 4-star fish and meat restaurants. |
Executive chef Mark Reinfeld characterizes The Blossoming Lotus cuisine as international gourmet vegetarian. He tells HappyCow, "It's meaningful to witness the transformation that occurs when people realize that vegan cuisine can be delicious. Knowing that when people include more vegan foods in their diet, they are helping to heal themselves and our planet."
Chef Mark's favorite dish to make? "Personally I enjoy a meal of fresh vegetables and sea vegetables, some lightly steamed, tossed in a bowl with quinoa, fresh minced herbs from the garden and grilled tempeh. I add in some flax oil, nutritional yeast, a touch of nama shoyu or a sprinkle of Hawaiian sea salt." Yum.

For centuries the magic of the desert has inspired travelers and adventurers. From Rudyard Kipling to David Lean, the mysteries of the deserts and their rulers have nurtured fantasies and dreams. These mysteries come to life in VegVoyages’ Desert Kingdoms of Rajputana adventure. For 16-days you get a chance to step back in time and experience firsthand the timeless beauty of India’s great desert in Rajasthan, where Rajput rulers, colorful-bustling bazaars, ancient temples, remote villages, impregnable fortresses, magnificent palaces, caravanning camels, formidable badlands and exotic wildlife are the norm! In addition to plenty of mouthwatering vegetarian food and local interaction, the adventure also includes hiking, safaris, and yoga lessons. More info at: vegvoyages.com
