3 Travel Tips for Vegetarians
TIP #1: Plan ahead food-wise
In addition to the usual pre-travel activities such as packing your clothes, making hotel reservations, and checking train schedules, etc... remember to pre-order your special air meal (vegan, fruit, kosher...) at least 48 hours prior to boarding a long plane ride. If you don't like the food offered by your air carrier, bring your own.
From our experience, it is always wise to bring along some healthy snacks anyway, like dried nuts, dried fruits, and energy bars. There might come times when you are hungry but no vegetarian or vegan food will be available, say on a long train ride or when passing through a non-veg-friendly town. At such times, you will find great relief dipping into your snack reserve.
TIP #2: Take care of your health
Especially on long trips or budget-style treks, traveling can be rough on your health. Bring along a few essential items like your usual vegetarian-suitable supplements, a few band-aids, water in a sturdy, reusable bottle that you can use to refill later, and maybe a small bottle of stabilized oxygen for "cleaning" your drinking water when water source is unreliable. Stabilized oxygen is supposed to kill parasites and add oxygen into your blood stream to revitalize you... these & more tips on staying well at: Vegetarian Travel Health
