Subject: Jacob's Ladder in Victoria Park
In 2002 I took a trip to Nova Scotia and I went to Jacob’s ladder in Victoria Park. It is about a half hour walk up a long stair case that climbs up the side of a hill. I stopped half way and took some of the most gorgeous pictures of the forest tops. You can either take the staircase back down or you can take a winding journey through the bike paths and trails to get to the base again. The trees are enormous and the trunks are huge!
I recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good hike!
Subject: Newbie to Edmonton
I recently took a trip to Edmonton because I am moving out there for school and I stopped at an East Indian Restaurant called the New Asian Village. There were plenty of vegetarian friendly food options and they were very well priced, there was also a pizza restaurant called the Funky Pickle which offered a vegan pizza made with hummus, tahini and veggies. I have yet to try it but it sounded incredible. Though Edmonton is known for their beef, I am hopeful that they will have a lot more veggie options to offer!
Subject: Congratulations on death of Hog Plant idea
Hello, I just wanted to send my congratulations to all the Transcona residents. I don’t think that people realize how detrimental an animal factory can be in a city. Aside from the smell and the mass pollution, they seep chemicals and toxins into the surrounding areas.
Also, the cleanliness of a factory that large is very minimal. If you are looking for a good informative movie on the topic, can I suggest "Fast Food Nation". It made me sick to my stomach but I am glad I watched it!
I think Winnipeg is smart to destroy that idea.
Subject: Winnipeg's Fringe Festival One of the Best
Every year in July there is a festival called the Winnipeg Fringe Festival. It is a festival supporting local and international artists. During the festival there are free performances in the main district and there is also a market where people come to sell there wares. Last year there was a soap and fragrance seller that featured vegan soaps and fragrances that were to die for! If you have a change to get the old market square I suggest that you check out the soaps. They have done wonders for my skin and are completely animal friendly!
