More About Me
Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:
I choose to follow a vegan diet because I do not wish to hurt any animals and the foods included in this plant-based diet do not intentionally exploit, abuse, or kill any of the sentient creatures with whom I share this planet.
I joined HappyCow Members Community because:
I joined the Happy Cow Members Community because I like to know of and meet with others who feel as I do.
Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:
I and my wife, Lori, enjoy visiting vegan-friendly and vegan restaurants. Our favorite day of the year is when we travel to Boston each October to visit the annual Boston Vegetarian Food Festival. We like to visit New York City because there are so many vegan restaurants there. We would like to visit England, where the word "vegan" was coined in 1947, and India, because of its non-violent, vegetarian tradition which embraces "ahimsa."
Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:
In addition to almond spread on tangy sourdough rye, I love Whole Soy & Co.'s vanilla soy yogurt, as well as Silk's Very Vanilla soymilk, especially when they are icy cold. I crave peaches, when in seaon, so they are soft, juicy, and "peachy-flavored." Oh, yes! Dark, dark chocolate, with at least 70 percent cocoa, at room temperature. All plant-based foods, in fact, taste delicious in my mouth and, because they cause no intentional suffering to animals and the planet, they are yummy in my soul!
Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:
My favorite veggie book is "Famous Vegetarians and Their Favorite Recipes" by Rynn Berry; I actually made Leonardo da Vinci's "Figs and Beans" recipe! I subscribe to "VegNews."
