More About Me

Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:
I'm vegan because I cannot be part of what the meat and dairy industry does, but also because it's great for health and feels great for health - and the food, oh the food, especially the food! The ethical bit is not about being perfect as unless you're a hermit up a hill you're tied into some dodgy companies in terms of animal and human rights. It's more about doing what you have to do considering what you know, combined with a bit of doing what you can. I was vegetarian for over 20 years but then in 2009 allowed myself to find out about the dairy industry, and having let that understanding in I knew I had to go vegan, and of course now a bit like an ex-smoker I think dairy is worse than meat. Being vegan now in the UK is a bit like being veggie was back then, so I feel back near the bow wave, which to be honest feels better - so there's my honest list of reasons..

I joined HappyCow Members Community because:
Because I was blown away by Green Rocket in Bath on a visit down there and wanted t shout it from the rooftops, but I've often intended to post reviews so hope I now will...

Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:
The Green Rocket in Bath, Demuth's (now Acorn) in Bath, Food for Friends and Terre a Terre in Bath, SAF in London though preferred the main one, Archie's in Penzance, Mildred's in London, 222 in West London... Historically Mandeer in Central London, Veganomics, Heathers and Kanchan's in South East London (why do they all move on!) and Indian Mischief in South London especially for the fun.

Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:
Just so many..., want to find out a bit more about raw processes at the mo, cashew cheeses and all that but avoiding the faddy hype bit...

Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:
