Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:
I became a vegetarian because I believe that eating meat supports cruelty to animals. I also did it for health reasons. Many studies show that a vegitarian diet is a healthy diet.
I joined HappyCow Members Community because:
As of June 11th, I became a vegetarian. I made the decision to stop eating meat after watching Forks over Knives but decided that I needed to take baby steps and become a vegetarian first. Being a new vegetarian, I want to learn and network with other vegetarians and vegans as well.
Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:
I was born in Providence RI and moved to Pittsburgh and then Bradford, PA. I want to go back and visit Providence as well as Boston and New York again. I also want to return to Montreal and Portland, OR. I would like to travel to Italy and Paris.

One of my favorite recipe is a Superfood Salad made with pomagranate juice, walnuts, spinach, red onions, grape tomatoes and dried cranberries.

I'm sure that many vegeterians and vegans were inspired by Forks Overs Knives. I also liked Hungry for Change. My favorite vegetarian cookbook is How to Cook Everything Vegetarian: Simple Meatless Recipes for Great Food by Mark Bittman. I would love to hear recommendations from other HappyCow members as well.
