More About Me
Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:
It started out 21 years ago as kind of a dare from a friend to go vegan. I went vegetarian at first and five years later went vegan. As time went on, I learned more and more about the health benefits of it. And I'm glad I did! I'm 40 now and I've never had any health problems, rarely even get a cold, and look like I'm in my late 20's (seriously, nobody ever guesses my age correctly). I'm healthy, happy, and feel good about my dietary choices. I couldn't eat meat, dairy, or eggs even if I wanted to at this point. My brain just doesn't consider it food anymore!
I joined HappyCow Members Community because:
I wanted to share some of the places I've found upon moving to Ventura recently and find out from others if there are places I haven't found yet. One thing we love to do is eat out. And it's not always easy to find a restaurant that offers a good variety of veg. options.
Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:
Restaurants? I've been to many, many restaurants. I'm not sure that's the question here. Travel? I've also been to many different places traveling. I've been all over the U.S. except the Northeastern part. I've been to most of Mexico and Central America. I've been to the Bahamas, Cayman Islands, the Fl. Keys. I want to go to Hawaii and some of the other Caribbean islands and Bermuda.
Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:
Smoothies, Pasta, Curries, Burritos, Pizza, Chili and Cornbread, Soups, Veggie Burgers, Thai, Ethiopian (especially Miser Wat), Bananas.
Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:
Veg. media that I've loved include "Forks Over Knives", "Supersize Me", "The China Study", "Diet for a New America", "Diet for all Reasons", "Veducated", "Food Inc.", "Food Matters", "Earthlings", "A Beautiful Truth" and others. One of my favorite books besides China Study would have to be "Food Revolution" by John Robbins.
