Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:
I'm a slow learner: Dad was trained chemical guy in army who didn't trust the chemical companies. He spoke about nitrates, antibiotics, and human physiology. I was raised with vegetarian kids whose families owned/worked in some of the Chicago stock yards. As a child, I loved poultry and meat, but these now taste bad to me: I finally figured it out: the stuff isn't the same or safe to eat. It isn't done sustain-ably.
I joined HappyCow Members Community because:
We have used the web site for years. I thought it time to be more active and a great way to meet people who think about food quality.
Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:
We spent 4 weeks in Tuscany & Venice, Italy traveling all over and had one meal during the trip that wasn't so good. I can't say that for any other 4 week period in my adult life, especially in this country. No matter how much it costs: food requires quality and purity. Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:
We have a large garden and grow our own lettuces, cucumbers, garlic, chives, kale, corn, tomato, beans, most heirloom. We have a 50 tree orchard: apples, cherries, pears, plums, apricots. All organic, meant in the extreme sense.
