More About Me

Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:
Terribly ill as a child, my adult life was never managed with intelligence, as I smoked and ate myself to cancer. It has been 15 years, and I am still surviving, and now I am thinner, not a smoker for 20 years, and very much alive. I now have post polio syndrome (Polio at age 5), and I have to become thinner, plus I need to swim. Seemed like the best choice to give me a chance of seeing my granddaughters reach college.

I joined HappyCow Members Community because:
This site was recommended by the author of "Engine 2" Rip Esselstyn. I liked what I found, even though I gave up on Engine 2.

Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:
Over seas! Now that I have been to the East Coast, I now really want to see England, Scotland, and France. Italy and Spain would also be nice.

Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:
Sugar snap peas, berries of all sorts, raw carrots, whole wheat bread, Vital Vittles breads (a Bay Area brand), and dense, dark chocolate, vegan chocolate tortes. After 3 years, losing more weight has proven to be even more difficult than I imagined. 15 pounds lighter, but I would need to exercise to lose more, but I am glad that I became vegan.

Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:
Numerous cookbooks- find one that fits your tastes. My wife is the cook, and so I shop and clean the dishes.
