Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:
I do it for all of the obvious reasons: the animals, my health, the environment, and the factory farm workers who have a horrendous job.
I joined HappyCow Members Community because:
We travel a fair amount and I always scout out veg eateries before hand. We've even planned trips based on vegan restaurants.
Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:
The Phoenix area has some very good places to eat, Denver has one good veg restaurant, and Portland OR is incredible. Looking forward to Chicago and an Italian trip soon.
Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:
We eat lots of soup. Some favorites are World's Best Vegetable, Tomato Bisque, Split Pea, 15 Bean, Corn Chowder, Peanut and many more. I've fallen in love with beans and rice of many varieties, e.g. red beans and rice, jambalaya. Salads are great and so many kinds.
Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:
I just heard Matt Frazier speak, author of No Meat Athlete and am reading that. He's very motivating and makes me feel proud to be vegan. Favorite cookbook authors are Isa Chandra Moskowitz, Dreena Burton, Robin Robertson. Forks Over Knives is a great movie.
