More About Me

Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:
I've never liked the taste of meat, so I've been more or less vegetarian since I was 20. I've also never liked how animals are raised and processed for consumption in the modern world. It's San and unnatural. I don't have as much problem with free range or kosher/ halal slaughter done on family farms, but still, I prefer to avoid eating meat.

I joined HappyCow Members Community because:
I like exploring places by traveling the back roads, so I need to know where to eat. I also like sharing recipes and cooking tips with other vegetarians.

Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:
I've been all over India (West Bengal, Rajasthan, U.P., Maharashtra,) Turkey, Bosnia, Serbia, Bulgaria, most of Europe, Cyprus, Israel, Palestinian Territories, Kurdistan, Singapore, Mexico , Guatemala, and Belize. I like India the best, and Mexico was amazing. I'd like to visit the Himalayas, South East Asia, more of India and Bangladesh, central Asia and western China, Tibet, and Mongolia.

Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:
Indian dried soy nuggets, Bengali street food (puchkas,) Tibetan veggie momos, south Indian food ( idli, dosas, ) Chinese fake meat, falafel, and Turkish or Israeli vegetarian food (borekas, olive oil- based stews and dolma.)

Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:
Yelp.com, and the following FB pages and groups: Good Vegetarian Food of Kolkata, Indian Recipe Trader( it's also a blog,) Bengali Recipe Exchange, Hint of Saffron ( also a blog.)
