More About Me
Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:
So many reasons! I've been a vegetarian for 12 years and vegan for 10 years. I am raising a daughter who has been vegan since conception. Animals are friends, not food - duh!?!
I joined HappyCow Members Community because:
I find myself isolating from others in my day-to-day life due to the fact that they all lack my core values. It's hard, for me, to always accept the cruelty others engage in on a daily basis. While I try to embrace the differences in others and accept them where they are in the journey, I truly rely on the connections I've made with other vegans online. I get by with a little help from my online friends.
Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:
I love to explore. There are plenty of places to still visit - too many to list really. Favorites so far - Mt. Desert Island - Maine, Santa Fe - New Mexico, Ozarks/Buffalo River - Arkansas, Golf Coast of FL, Grand Canyon and Salt River - Arizona, Bay Area/Santa Cruz/Monterey - California, Asheville -North Carolina... Definitely need to visit Portland, Seattle, Colorado and Toronto in the near future.
Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:
Chinese, Mexican, Ethiopian and Indian - not necessarily in that order. I also have a weakness for homemade pizza and baked goods. I'm a domestic goddess, when time allows, and love to cook from scratch. I like making doughs and seitan. I especially love to cook in cast iron and outdoors. My new favorite foodie activity is making hand ground flour from whole wheat berries!
Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:
I love free and cheap. Sometimes I dumpster dive. Mostly, though, I coupon. I found this book to be a great resource on the coupon organizing front. Check it out: http://pickanothercheckoutlanehoney.com/ Sure, I also like plenty of classics, books by howard zinn and noam chomsky, vegnews magazine, herbivore (when it was in print), and familyfun (for great kid craft activities). Mostly, I get my reading online, though. Music: Greatly varies including but surely not limited to Squirrel Nut Zippers, Avail, Rage Against the Machine, Jack Johnson, Adele, Metallica, The Beatles, Travis, Aimee Mann, Brett Dennen, Suicidal Tendencies, Tenacious D, Tim Barry, Bob Marley, Radiohead, The Hot Seats, Local Folk and Acoustic...
