More About Me

Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:
I went vegetarian at age seven because I thought meat was gross. As a teenager I actually did a lot of research about how evil the meat industry is and how much healthier you are for actually doing the right thing. Now it's been twenty years since I ate meat and I have trouble even mentally processing the fact that animals are food for some people. I'm very vocal, I wear message buttons and shirts and bumper stickers and I try to convert everyone I meet. I consider it a challenge. I don't believe people when they say that they don't care, we were designed to care, it's called being human. My husband, daughter, cat, and dogs are also all vegetarian and healthy and happy.

I joined HappyCow Members Community because:
I get along with everyone, but it's kind of embarrassing to say, when I meet a vegetarian I immediately like them and I do tend to think a little less of meat eaters. I'm all about the new vegetarian license plate coming out because while I am a nice driver, I'd always be extra nice and considerate to other people with the vegetarian plate. I've felt alone most of my life, being the only vegetarian in my family and I love to be around like minded people. Living out in the country you'd think there would be more vegetarians because we love animals and nature and peaceful surroundings but there seem to be very few and absolutely NO vegetarian friendly restaurants. Why is this?

Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:
The only country I've visited is Guatemala and I never wanted to leave. I'd love to visit and maybe one day live in Belize. Belize is breathtaking, it's cheap to live there, when you buy land you actually own it outright, they've never had a war, their money has never lost it's value, they have a good amount of vegetarian restaurants, and almost half their land is protected from humans screwing it up. I've always wanted to go to Ireland and England because I'm both. England has a shit-ton of vegetarian restaurants and I like that vegetarians pay less for their life insurance there because we live so much longer! English people need to stop eating lambs though. Really? How can people eat the symbol of peace? I'm not even religious and I know that's just wrong. And England outlawed Pit Bulls; for being the most abused, neglected, and misused dog breed ever created. So their government is obviously one of the most ignorant. I'd never live there.

Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:
I just recently discovered Dog Town, Rescue Ink, and Pit Boss on Netflix and fell in love with these charming, compassionate dog shows. If you love dogs and you love seeing human beings at their best, you should definitely check them out. Pit Boss only rescues pit bulls and it's so wonderful to see people care about the best but most misunderstood dog breed in the world. Not enough people stand up for them. The are literally the underdogs.
