Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:
I was first vegetarian. I had visited a friend in NYC and he was vegetarian. When I got back home, I realized that I felt amazing. I attributed this to the fact that I only ate what he ate all week, so I decided to try it for a few more weeks. I never stopped. Only later did I start really about the cruelty we in America impose upon animals. A few years later, I visited the same friend who then lived in Chicago. After that visit, I decided the vegan life was for me.
I joined HappyCow Members Community because:
I am from a small town. I love vegan communities like this because, at first, I had no one to connect with. I needed information and solidarity and I found it in sites like this.
Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:
I really want to go to Bhutan. Sounds awesome. My favorite place I've been is Costa Rica. I travel a handful of times domestically per year for work and I'm happy I get to try vegan restaurants all over the place. The Happycow app makes that really easy!
Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:
Almost everything. Except mustard greens. I juiced those once and it's just too much. Just because it's edible doesn't mean we should eat it! Haha. I think my favorite single food is kalamata olives. My favorite meal pregan and vegan is nachos. I can't live without a gigantic plate of nachos every once in awhile.

The China Study, Diet for a new America, Why We Eat Dogs..etc, The New Good Life... Those, to me, are the staples of why to become vegan.
