Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:
I was raised in a vegetarian household. I was introduced to the PETA2 forums by a friend, and was introduced to the idea of a vegan diet. I couldn't figure out why drinking milk was bad, so I researched and found that dairy supports the veal industry, something that my parents were very passionately against. I was immediately converted.
I joined HappyCow Members Community because:
I like internet forums, and probably am a part of more than half a dozen specifically vegan ones... PETA2, vegteens, vegweb, ALF...
Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:
I have only really traveled around the state of Washington, but I really like where I live now. From what I hear, Seattle is one of the few places where you can go to a Steakhouse and order vegan food.

How do I choose?? Probably birthday cake, but I guess only having it once a year makes it more special. Dishes I commonly make: polenta (try it with broccoli!); roasted potatoes (amazing with fresh rosemary); various bean soups and patties (like falafels and black bean burgers!); oatmeal (+pumpkin+cranberries+maple syrup+autumnal spices=delicious!); rice, kasha (buckwheat), and kashi(7 whole grains on a mission?) pilafs; dark green salads (I hate lettuce) when they are in season
