Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:
Since becoming vegan, my wife and I feel healthier, and our consciences are no longer burdened with disturbing thoughts of animals beings harmed for our culinary pleasure. We are, therefore, kinder and happier, and we will probably live longer.
I joined HappyCow Members Community because:
Compared to what's available to the meat-eating world, how many resources are there for vegans? Those following close behind the trailblazers have no choice but to take what they can get, unless they can figure out how to cut paths of their own.
Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:
The Chicago Diner is great. It's the best vegan place around -- bar none. There are a few other vegan restaurants in Chicago we'd like to try, but one of our mainstays is Flat Top Grill. They have many vegan options.
Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:
The other night we made Vegetable Fajitas with Black Beans, Guacamole and Quinoa. It was amazing! I don't like raw bananas, but I'll eat them fried. I like making Fried Banana Tacos or making french toast with mashed-up bananas, instead of eggs. I like making vegan version of Indian, Mexican, and Thai dishes. We also make all of our own baked goods and sorbets. We eat pretty well.
