More About Me

Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:
Animal rights, hormones, health....plus it makes more sense to eat whole foods that come from the earth.

I joined HappyCow Members Community because:
I've been Vegetarian for a year and a half and am now transitioning into a Vegan. Looking for support and great new Vegan products to try to expand my horizons. Currently I don't have any friends who are Vegetarian or Vegan so it's nice to be able to relate with like-minded people.

Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:
I've been to Vegas, L.A., Santa Barbara, Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Toronto, New Orleans, Austin, Dallas and Iowa. I would love to visit Mexico, Australia, Italy, Fiji.....many more. I love to travel. Currently looking for a host in Hawaii to become a WWOOF volunteer.

Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:
Still going through the trial & error stages of becoming a Vegan.....any recommendations would be very much appreciated. =)

Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:
Vegan Italiano by Donna Klein. It's a meat-free, dairy-free and egg-free cook book....so yummy & the best I've found so far.

Udupi Palace
I actually own the restaurant and saw your review here on happycow. Sorry for the slow service (after check please we were quite overwhelmed and hired a bunch of new waiters but since then that should be resolved now). As for future recommendations of what try just email me at johnkhat@yahoo.com and I can help you pick out exactly what to eat for your next trip plus send you some coupons for buy 1 get 1 free entrees!

Hi
I'm *really* sorry for the late response, as I haven't logged on here lately.

If you like Vegan cheese, I recommend the stuff called Teese made by Chicago Soydairy. I also found the best Vegan marshmallows ever (also made by Chicago Soydairy). You can definitely find them at the Greener Grocer at Grand and Noble. Do you ever go to any of the meetups here? Thanks for messaging me!

Vegan Breakfast Spots
i don't know a place that has completely vegan breakfast...except one, that i have been meaning to check out but haven't yet...The Balanced Kitchen...it is completely vegan. I'm not sure if they serve breakfast daily but they serve a 6 course, reservation only sunday brunch & it looks insanely amazing but $$$. Victory Banner has a good tofu scramber & so does Heartland Cafe, they have good options & I know their bread is vegan also.
