More About Me

Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:
Purely ethical reasons - I certainly don't fit into the healthy category with all my mac and cheese, fried chicken, stout pies, chips and dip, and field roast yummies.

I joined HappyCow Members Community because:
To find vegan restaurants and grocery stores as well as hear what others are saying about them.

Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:
I have been to the Pacific northwest and I love northern CA, OR, WA, and Canada. I've also fallen deeply in love with Sweden; lots of places in Europe appeal to me but moving is not as easy as I'd like it to be.

Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:
Gardein meatballs, chicken sandwiches, chicken scallopini, and buffalo wings. Field roast celebration roast, frankfurters, and meatloaf, Boca crumbles. I like meat pies, esp made with stout, or just a chicken pot pie. Beef stroganoff found in Veganomicon (I believe) is fantastic, picadillo, pastels, arroz con pollo, and pot roast are also big favorites. Yes, I love meat analogs and cheese subs like Daiya on spaghetti, pizza, or grilled cheese. I like to make a mac and cheese with follow your heart cheddar melted in a double boiler with some margarine and a tiny dash of almond milk at the end then baked in a covered dish for 30 minutes then browned under the broiler for a few more. Like I said, I'm not the healthy type!

Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:
I can't recommend these things based on our vegan food as a common ground but I will say most of it is not mainstream.
