Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:
We've been vegetarian since 1986, the catalyst being when we took our son to a children's farm. I'd wondered how we would sustain a vegetarian diet but it was the best thing we ever did, largely thanks to the ingenuity of my wife who began to discover a whole new culinary world.

The Happy Cow website has become one of the most crucial parts of our travel preparations, an absolute boon. It has steered us to some memorable hidden gems and away from those which are not so good. Adding our own reviews feels like giving something back.
Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:
Berlin, Paris, Florence, Budapest, Prague, Zurich, Brugge, Toulouse, Amsterdam, Krakow, Barcelona. Madrid, Rome, Copenhagen, Hamburg, Cologne, Munich
Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:
We like almost every vegetable, especially the colourful ones. We love pasta, pulses, rice dishes. We make our own breads with some of the favourites being cinnamon & walnut, apricot & hazelnut (fabulous with cheese & onion). We love freshly made soups, spiced chick peas, cashew nut paella, baked potatoes with cheese & herb sausages and homemade chutney, chilli bean casserole. Fresh fruit salad every day. Fresh asparagus dipped in local eggs with Norfolk cheese.

Books by Sarah Brown and Rose Elliott provide much of the foundation to our vegetarian diet, but Julie is also inspired by books on French and Italian cookery, especially baking ones such as 'Confessions of a French Baker' by Peter Mayle &Gerard Auzet and Morning Bakes by Linda Collister.
