More About Me
Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:
it only takes being vegan for a few months to realize how revolting it is to consume animal products. animals are just as sentient as humans, its pretty simple. health is wealth.
I joined HappyCow Members Community because:
the amazing restaurant guide/reviews/maps and to connect with other veg folks who are passionate about food and visiting great restaurants.
Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:
46 american states, 6 canadian provinces, 18 countries in total. i would like to get through the rest of europe, spend way more time in india and egypt, take the trans-siberian, get to japan, SE asia, and australia, do as many volunteer trips as possible everywhere else. and of course any time in the vegan haven cities of sf, nyc, or london are great. i live in chicago, which is pretty darn good for a vegan.
Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:
i am crazy about faux meats and seitan. i try to eat as much raw as possible which doesnt end up being too much, which frustrates me cause i always find it annoying with normal eating folks saying they cant give up cheese or some type of meat, but i seriously cant give up my wheat glutenous and soy protein processed deliciousness! i am world renowned for my love and tolerance for extremely hot and spicy foods, for example there have been times where i will use an entire extra large bottle of tabasco just for one meal... some days i will end up eating an entire raw bulb of garlic and there are few days where i dont at least use 4 or 5 raw cloves pressed or minced into a meal. i am also really into mustard and do not under any circumstances consume ketchup and have never knowingly or purposely my entire life.
Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:
if you ever have a chance check out a speaking engagement of the vegan md, do it! (drgreger.org) oh and if you have not read 'animal liberation' you are missing out, 'diet for a new america' and stuff like that is good too!
