About:
How I became a vegetarian : I stumbled into my very own successful method made by a simple spiritual observation. A simple observation that changed/changes me for as long as I choose (and re-choose for that matter). Just read the "more about me" section. Can't say it will work for you but >you can< try. (more)

More About Me

Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:
From a spiritual person's point of view, I can now observe what worked for me as far becoming a vegetarian. I simply made the observation that there were enough non-meat food choices to eat to avoid daily monotony. Next, I decided to stop eating meat NOT because it taste bad! I decided to stop eating it because I believe in a being's divine right to know itself experientially. I observe that when I made my choice, I did not "vilify" or "malign" the object called meat. Instead, I observed/observe and acknowledged/acknowledge it taste great >but< at the same time acknowledged/acknowledge other foods without meat taste just as good it not better. Lastly, observing that life is choosing and re-choosing, I simply choose & re-choose to eat something other then the thing called meat. Continued below..

I joined HappyCow Members Community because:
I joined because I like to read about places in my area I can go enjoy a good vegi-friendly meal or where I can pick up stuff I can cook at home. Continued here... What is the "vilifying meat" approach and why it does not work? A spiritual observation. Given the scenario: One enjoys eating meat, tries to quit for some reason or another, only to shortly thereafter wind up eating it again. So what happened? Will power? Hmm.. I've done it too. I observe the answer to be a spiritual one. From my personal experience and observation, when one "vilifies" a thing called "meat", they lie about it to themselves in order to achieve a desired result. Spiritually speaking, given that truth is a universal path to enlightenment which none can "step-aside" from. Simply put, truth is truth, no denying it. If you enjoy eating meat then lie to yourself in order to stop eating it, you end up creating other then the desired results. I observe, if you have the will power (a strong willed state) to keep up the "lie" you end up desiring it constantly, but know why. If you forget about "the lie" you experience "wondering why" you have such a craving for it! When, in truth, you created the entire experience! I could be wrong though..

Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:
As a "Over the Road" truck driver I have been almost everywhere in the United States. Of all the places I have been, I love El Paso, TX. This is why I live here.

Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:
Broccoli #1, Black Beans (how many things can you make from these?), Garbanzo beans, Tons of pizza

Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:
I'm reading Tom Campbell's "My Big TOE", it's getting really good! I have also listened to "Conversations with GOD",(audio book format) by Neal Donald Walsch which was very enlightening! "A Chakra Meditation" (audio book format) by Glenn Harold (Note: This works!). "The Assault on Reason" (audio book format) by Al Gore was fabulous! I have others I have not read yet so I will let you know how they are.
