Q: I left reviews on HappyCow before becoming a member using "GUEST" or a different handle. How can I get those listed under my new account?
A: If you'd like to reclaim your old reviews (or username), you can contact us with all the relevant information and we'll do our best to update your account. Please be sure to include the names, time of posting, and the url (web address) of the posts.
Q: How do I upload my own (avatar) picture?
A: First login, and go to your profile page. Click on "edit my profile." From there you can select an range of avatar images provided by HappyCow, or you can choose to upload your own by selecting "custom upload " A browse option will appear whereby you have to choose from an image that is stored on your home computer. After you choose the image you want, click on "update" to complete the process (this process takes 5 seconds to load).
Your newly uploaded avatar will appear in your profile. It will be small, but you can click on that image to enlarge it. NOTE: HappyCow's members profile accepts only images in .gif or .jeg format that are under 2mb in size.
Q: How do I change my display (avatar) picture?
A: The procedure is the same as uploading your own avatar for the first time. Login and go to your profile page. Click on "edit my profile." From there you can select an existing avatar image or upload your own by selecting "Click here to upload" and browse to a personal image that is stored on your computer. Click on "update" to complete the change.
Q: How do I add a restaurant or health food store to my list of favorites?
A: Please browse/search the HappyCow site to the City page where one of your favorite restaurants or stores is located. You will see an "ADD TO MY FAVS" button located next to the name of that business. Click on this button to add the restaurant or store as one of your favorites.
Q: I wrote a review for a restaurant/store and I want to edit/change or delete it. How?
A: Login to your member profile. From there you will see a complete list of all the reviews you have written. Find that particular review you want to change and DELETE IT. Then write a new one for this same restaurant or store. Your new review will replace the previous one that you just deleted. (sorry, we are unable to allow straight editing, but to save time, try copying the old one and pasting it into the form for the new review)
Q: I'm worried my email is displayed publicly, how do I hide it?
A: By default your email address is hidden from public view. To change that setting click on "edit profile" once you are logged in and looking at your profile. You will always see your email address yourself in your private profile, and below it will tell you the status: "(this is private)" or "(this is public)". To view your profile the way others see it, click on "view profile" under your avatar.
