Hi Michael,
It's a good idea. I just wonder if there are enough vegan doctors around to actually warrant a guide?
Will keep this on our list. Thanks, Eric
The Chinese characters should never appear in the venue name (main name, although sometimes we repeat the name in the comment field with characters included) or cities, only in the addresses and comments.
They were cause some bugs and also pages did not always validate as a result. There obviously is a method to handle this better. Will look into it when I have time.
Thanks. Eric
Hi Fibonacci,
I see what you mean about the special characters in this group as you've shown above and will work on fixing that.
However, in the venue names we've purposely removed them. They are sometimes used in the address field and in the description, below the listing, as I have just done on the link you sent:
If you see characters not showing correctly, please send me a link.
I've just re-geo-coded the Bogota listings. Please have a look and let me know which ones are still incorrect.
The format for addresses is different with each country and I believe this is part of the issue with the Bogota listings.
If possible, please send links to correct maps in Google Maps along with the venue IDs.
Thanks, Eric
I just tried this a few times also using Firefox. I think the issue may be cause by your internet connection. It didn't happen for me even after a 30+ minute break.
Not sure how to resolve this for you. I could post a notice to warn people that this could happen and that they should save a draft someplace else if writing a long message.
Did anyone else have this issue?
Hi Fibonacci,
For some reason this post got overlooked. I think that this issue has already been resolved though. If you can find an example where it still exists, please let me know.
Thanks, Eric
Hi Fibonacci,
True, there are areas which are not yet working for Google maps, but I believe that Colombia is now functioning. Is it possible that you'll help with this and send us a list of places that need to be re-coded?
You could send us just the venue ID, like for:
(just send us the ID like, 11367)
Also, if we can't figure them out, maybe you can help by sending a link to the actua
Hi Howard,
Did you know HappyCow is based in LA? It's very spread out here and it is difficult to connect/find community. There are however a few good groups that you must attend, and that will definitely change your perspective.

Hi animalsrule,
No idea why that might be. btw- The date on that page is not when you joined HappyCow, it when you joined this group. Is it still wrong?
Hi Jesse,
Thanks for starting this group. Taiwan has been in the vegan news headlines recently due to the issue of mock meats not being truly vegan. Some friends here in LA coincidentally did their own investigation and found that many of the vegan places around town were using mock meats and cheese that was not really vegan. Some of those owners have called me, frantic, trying to find new

Hi travelish,
This reply comes kinda late, sorry. Just wanted you to know we do use Google Calendars now. We have one for the entire world:
...and also one just for the Los Angeles area here:

Hi gemini,
Not sure how many members are from Thunder Bay area. You could try doing a search and write a little note to members individually.
(I just tried and not many showed up)
There is no group for that area yet, so feel free to start your own group, here:
(you might want it to be for all of Ontario to be more active)
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Peace, eri
Thanks Travelish,
Still haven't had time to fully check it out. Do you know if it will only be possible for the moderator to edit/post events on it?
I've just been looking at adding something like vCalendar:
but would prefer to use Google if it's easy.
Hi Travelish,
At this point you can only do that by posting announcements / threads. There is something by Google, an events calendar, which may be integrated here. I don't have the details and I'm not 100% sure how it works, but when I have some time I'll look into it.
Do you have any questions about how this all works?
It's built pretty straight forward, but if you are wondering how something works, post your question here.
