DAILY ISSUES WE FACE AS VEGAN GIRLS IN NON VEGAN SOCIETIES

What are some of the daily issues we have to face as vegan ladies in non vegan societies?

We face [macho] people (who have beer-meat bellies) making fun of us and our choice of nutrition. They say with a look of disgust, "No, thanks." or "I hate tofu.", without even trying the meal.

So I've been cooking and not announcing to anyone that my panini mozzarella veggie sandwich has melted soy mozzarella from Trader Joe's (yum). Nor do I tell them that the sausage in the spaghetti with meat marinara is vegan protein. And they haven't a clue they're eating tofu pesto ricotta on my pizzas with rice and soy cheeses. I have not heard one complaint, and the food disappears quick.

So I conclude these folks are mental and insult our vegan food because deep down they know how bad it is to eat the polluted foods they eat. I know when I eat animal foods I feel like an unhealthy animal. It's not a mystery. The secret weapon I have is vegan cookbooks (Like "Vegan with a Vengeance" by Isa Chandra Moskowitz and Internet recipes. If you cook it they will eat.

The absolute sociopathic nature of our society and the rampant belief that we are the crazy ones.

Sorry to be a bummer on my first post - I came here looking for some vegan support after a depressing conversation with my best friend wherein she expressed that she absolutely does not care what happens to the animals that are used to create her food. Period.

This is particularly hard to take from people you know are otherwise decent and caring.

Sigh.

I guess lots of people will think us vegans as weird since so many people are meat eaters. Some think the animals are provided here by their Creator. To each his own I suppose. Probably just how they were raised. I know I was raised that way. But nowadays I do not argue with anyone or preach to them about being a vegan. If they want to know about it, I will explain. If they question me, I will try to answer. But I also realize they are just curious and most have no wanting at all of becoming a vegan. If perhaps someone is serious and wants to know more about becoming a vegan, then of course I will be glad to help them. There are many prejudices in our society. It is the way of the world it seems. I try to not be prejudice against others who eat differently than me even if I think strongly it is best to be vegan - which I do!

Hello everyone,
I agree...I don't like sharing much my personal views and opinions with non-vegans unless they are interested or if they ask, or if they disrespect or cross the line with me...Each individual has a growing and learning process I think...they will soon be aware.
