So - just as I was thinking about a post asking what everyone's favourite warming autumn food is, back came summer with a vengeance!

Has the BBQ come back out? Is your fridge confused by the seasonal produce but the weather that doesn't match? Or are you too busy sunning yourself on the beach/in the park to worry about food?

I was in Switzerland and was surprised to see a 'UK Heatwave' report on the news, complete with cuddly grannies at the seaside ;-)

Oh, it certainly was a heatwave. The last week has seen temperatures of 28-30 degrees for a lot of the country, temperatures we usually don't see in July and August, let alone the end of September, beginning of October.

It's meant to break tomorrow though. Today is the last day it's expected to top 20 degrees.

The national news has been full of video of parks and beaches teeming with half-naked people (some video much more enjoyable than others!) and with poor news reporters, in suits and ties, holding up thermometers proving how hot it is!

Apparently, sales of beer and sausages went up by something like 500% at the end of last week, ready for a weekend of BBQs. I wonder how much the sale of veggie sausages went up by!
