NY Restaurants

Hi Everyone,

I started this group for those in the NY area who are trying to live a vegetarian/vegan lifestyle. Please let me know alittle about yourself and your vegetarian experience in NY. Share with the group some great vegetarian restaurants in the NY area that you would recommend.
Also, possibly some hot vacation vegetarian getaways (either international or domestic) that you would also recommend since we all need some R&R from the hustle and bustle of the big city.

Love to hear from you soon!

Share questions you might have!

Hello. I am a vegan based in NYC. A friend of mine opened a great all vegan
"ice cream" shop in Manhattan. Its not exactly the season for it I know but, I recommend it highly. They have tons of flavors that they make there as well as
soft serve from Chicago Soy. They have coffee and teas and a few baked goods.
They are located at 516 east 6th Street between Avenues A and B. The place is
really nice, done in an old time soda shop style. The owners are vegans and very
sincere in their desire to serve the community. They let you taste and taste and taste. Check them out at [www.lulassweetapothecary.com] or stop by.

Hey everyone. I guess this page hasn't made it very far yet, but I like the idea of listing favorite restaurants so here are a few of mine in Manhattan: Blossom, Curly's Vegetarian, & Counter. I haven't checked out Pure Food & Wine yet, but have heard great thingssmiling smiley

Definitely my favorites in NY are Red Bamboo in West 4th Street. They have also Vegetarian Paradise right next door but I prefer the selection at Red Bamboo. My fave choices when I'm there is garlic mash potatoes, chik n'parm (soy cheese or none at all), and sweet potato fries. I'd definitely recommend it for those who want to move from meat eating into a vegetarian diet.

Hi everyone,

This is Paul - a 23-year vegetarian, with great vegan sympathies. Originally from Wales, lived in London for 12 years and have now been in NYC for 17 years. I do production for a variety of conferences, business meetings, concerts, music tours and special events, traveling the world and using Happycow as my main resource to feed myself on the road. I am the co-organizer of the New York City Vegetarian Group. Favorite restaurants in NYC include Candle 79 and Cafe, Curly's Vegetarian Lunch. Soy & Sake, Tiffin Wallah - really - there's too much choice!
