Hi all, I’m new and may be out-of-line; but, I felt compelled to respond. I am a logical thinker and became (mostly) Vegan (eat as a vegan) because of the science of it; I’ve been convinced that meat is not healthy for us.
With that said: I think of it as the same way divorce was permitted. God hates divorce, but because of the stubbornness of us human, he gave permission (in specific circumstances.) We are permitted to eat meat, but we don't have to. I say "don't have to" because I think that it's not a sin to eat meat.
I watched Earthlings (the documentary) with a friend, because she wanted to see the emotional side for becoming a vegan. I was outraged by the lack of respect for other living beings (the beasts we are to care for); but if it were only this movie, I would have decided to raise my own beef/poultry.
God is VERY forgiving; but as the saying goes, "when (He) gives an inch, we take a mile."
I have not gone to any of the links provided yet (well, I went to one), but I have looked over the Hallelujah Diet site and don't quite agree that eating meat is a sin. I will, as I can, look over the sites/links posted and consider what they say about being a Christian and eating meat. BTW, thank you all for posting them.
My prayer is that we may continue to look to our perfect Lord, seeking His will and true truth.
BTW, Jesus had to be perfect to atone for our sins on the cross. If we think differently, we aren't thinking properly.
Live Coram Deo,
Dustin
