Have you tried Nuttelex Pulse? => [www.nuttelex.com.au]

I don't know how they formulate it... but its as close to butter that is vegan I have found.

I really like almond butter - although it isn't really a butter substitute. I never really liked butter/marg and have always enjoyed tahini, so I haven't really had to be creative on that front.

I have also never made oat or almond milk. Sorry! However, this site seems to have a bunch of recipes for different milks, including oat and almond.

Thanks for the input, I do use Nuttelex sparingly mostly in cooking, I haven't tried the Pulse variety though. I made almond/cashew milk...it was really awful..lol...I will stick to store bought rice milk in future, Polly.

Do they sell "Earth Balance" vegan margarine in Sydney?
I get from from health stores in LA, like Whole Foods....I hear they have locations there as well.

Good luck!

cosmicbdog, would you say Nuttelex pulse tastes (even) better than regular Nuttelex?

Hi Polly

I haven't got any recipes for making milk and haven't tried yet, but I intend to. Have you tried the QLD Vegetarian Society forum? They have recipes and lots of helpful members. If you go to the [www.vegsoc.org.au] forum and use their search facility, there are bound to be some threads on making different sorts of milk.

As for the spread, I use Nuttlex too but for sandwiches if you don't like tahini, I am very fond of avocado. It's nature's butter.

I use Avocado on sandwiches instead of butter, or nuttlex. There is a brand called Kingsland soy butter but I have only tried their cream cheese which I didn't like, found at supermarkets. Toffuti imitation cream cheese can also be found at supermarkets and is great for spreading, cooking and making dips from. There is a new spreadable soy cheese that can be bought from www.veganperfection.com.au or www.crueltyfreeshop.com.au and Vegan's Choice grocery shop in Newtown, Sydney. Contact vegan perfection for stockists of their spreadable soy cheese (they send an updated list with their newsletters each month).

I'm sure they sell almond milk at the supermarket, or healthfood stores. Goodluck!

I use avocado, Plamil mayonnaise or hummus on sammiges. I use Nuttelex or oil in baking/cooking.

I use Vitasoy's Rice Milk but I have made almond milk before.

Google it because there are lots of raw vegan sites with instructions on how to make almond milk. You basically blend soaked almonds with water, strain it and then keep the liquid in the fridge.
