Halal and Kosher slaughter

Double Dare

Should it be banned or in the same of the segregationist mantra of 'muilticulturalism' should it be permitted? Why is the that the RSPCA and all the fraudulent 'liberal lefties' in Guardianland choose to ignore it?

JohnnySensible at 05/12/2011 07:31:59
Why separate out Halal & Kosher slaughter from other types of slaughter.

Are you an Anti-Semite / an Islamophobe?
kindlizard at 05/13/2011 00:15:19
Johnny, yes that is racist. This should be removed.
AndyT at 05/13/2011 06:42:51
I strongly object to halal and kosher slaughter - as to any other form of slaughter.

The way to eat halal and kosher is to eat vegan.

No I am not an 'anti-semite' or 'Islamophobe', but clearly among certain people who consider themselves to be 'enlightened' it is impossible to raise the issue of Halal and Kosher slaughter without being accused of 'racism', despite the fact that Judaism and Islam are ideologies, not 'races'.

'Why separate out Halal & Kosher slaughter from other types of slaughter'? Because allowing an animal to bleed to death by slitting its throat is worse than any method of killing which avoids putting them through that pain. If I, as a secular vegan Englishman, am a 'racist' for highlighting this issue, then so is Steven Patrick Morrissey.
JohnnySensible at 05/13/2011 23:33:42
Maybe post a few YouTube vids of yourself singing in the bath.

If you sing / perform as well as Morrissey does you will probably be forgiven for a lot.

Why put the fact that you are an 'Englishman' on a pedestal?

English slaughter houses are far from being 'pain free'.

Why shouldn't I post that I am English? The Scots, the Welsh and the Irish, the Yanks and the Canucks have no shame in promoting their nationalities. England is a secular society and we should not be tolerating barbaric cultural practices in the name of 'multiculturalism'.

I never said that English slaughterhouses were pain-free, however if you were really sensible you would stop evading the issue I am highlighting. If you fail to opppose Halal and Kosher slaughter whilst claiming to oppose cruelty to animals then you are a hypocrite.
JohnnySensible at 05/14/2011 05:41:10
Education NOT Legislation

Do we need a new group for this English neo-Nazi vegan to play in?

He could apply for French citizenship - Sarkozy would him a job.

'€50 for every full-face Islamic veil that you report to the Gendarmes'

'€20 for pulling a Hasidic Jew into a barbers shop to forcibly trim his side-burns'.

So I am now a 'neo-Nazi' because YOU can't address the issue at hand, which is the cruelty INHERENT in Halal and Kosher slaughter. You display every failing of the so-called 'liberal left' in appeasing the ILLIBERAL aspects of religious fundamentalism, the ritual barbaric slaughter of animals included.I have been vegan for over 20 years and in the past decade I have unfortunately witnessed more people like you who are unwilling to tackle any issue related to 'multiculturalism' that is too difficult for you to take on without slandering those of us who are willing to tackle these issues as being 'racists' or now 'Nazis'.Maybe you should set up your own 'multicultural' dystopia in which any form of cruelty can be 'justified' in the name of religion.

The suggestion to 'ban' Halal and Kosher slaughter told me immediately that I was dealing with someone unusual.

Your subsequent posts have confirmed this.

King Cnut (Canute) was sane enough to know that he couldn't turn back the tide.

I oppose animal slaughter every day - but not by proposing ridiculous legislation.

"From the sacred shore I stand on, I command thee to retreat;
Venture not, thou stormy rebel, to approach thy master's seat:
Ocean, be thou still! I bid thee come not nearer to my feet!"

But the sullen ocean answered with a louder, deeper roar,
And the rapid waves drew nearer, falling sounding on the shore;
Back the Keeper and the Bishop, back the king and courtiers bore.

King Canute by William Makepeace Thackeray

If you think that by leafleting outside a few Halal and Kosher butchers shop, you are going to persuade the customers of the errors of their ways, you really are naïve, but then as you have already shown you are incapable of addressing the issue. You either tacitly support the 'rights' of Muslims and Jews to engage in ritual slaughter or you are too cowardly to prosecute them.

BTW as you have sidetracked the issue into dress codes, then you are no doubt aware that the Muslim Council of Britain recently decreed that women should not question wearing the veil and that those who fail to wear it will be punished. As for the France, it is up to the French how they run THEIR country and defend THEIR secular constitution. If you don't like that sat there in Hong Kong well tough!

Just wait until radical Islam arrives in China, as it will in due course, given that the separatists in Urumqi are being radicalised just like those in Chechnya have been. A few suicide bombings in HK might just knock a bit of reality into you, then you'll know who the real fascists are and that appeasement will no more work now than in did in 1938. If you had an ounce of integrity you would apologise for calling me a 'Nazi'

You are digging yourself deeper into a hole here [edit by staff].

..... using 'vegan' as a cover for your obvious hatred of Islam & Judaism.

..... a nasty abuse of this site.

Where do English 'fish & chips' come from?

Would you bother to oppose a group which drowned animals before cutting them up / cooking them / eating them?

The 'fishing industry' does this in reverse – pulling sea creatures out of water & leaving them to die in great pain.

Perhaps 95%+ of the 'English' are involved in this chronic abuse.

..... but to your twisted mind it is only Jews & Moslems who are 'especially bad'.

..... and you are here looking for similarly bigoted or very naïve individuals to 'follow' your warped views.

Good luck sicko!
AndyT at 05/17/2011 05:34:05
You would be astonished by how many cows in slaughterhouses are not "properly" stunned by the bolt and are fully conscious when they are skinned and their legs are cut off.

That is why I am protesting all kinds of slaughter.

To single out kosher and halal practices as 'especially barbaric' is similar to putting Temple Grandin on an 'Animal rights hero' pedestal for her tireless efforts to kill animals in a 'more humane' way.

Double Dare at 06/10/2011 07:33:09
Well Mr so-called Sensible, apparently there are more than a thousand 'sickos' who also want to ban Halal and Kosher slaughter. See link:

Quote from HMG 'The religious slaughter of animals without prior stunning is permitted in the UK. The laws governing animal welfare at slaughter in both the EU and UK require animals to be stunned before slaughter, but make an exemption from this requirement for religious slaughter carried out by Jews and Muslims'.

You will not address this issue because you are too much of a coward, hence you have to resort to calling me a 'Nazi'.

I have been vegan since 1990, so I do not need a lecture from you. I do not hate any group of people on the basis of their religious upbringing and /or ethnnicity, but these people must recognise that England is a secular country and their 'culture' should not take precedence over English law which applies to all of us, including Sikhs and Hindus, who do not feel the 'need' to indulge in ritual slaughter.

Oh and the Netherlands is planning to ban both Halal and Kosher slaughter. No doubt in YOUR warped mind, the Dutch are all 'Nazis' as well. The sooner English law is also changed to ban this ritual slaughter as well, the better.
JohnnySensible at 06/11/2011 21:29:30
A thousand - wow - really, really impressive!

The vast majority of Sikhs & Hindus in England enthusiastically support & actively participate in cow torture / cow slaughter by pouring milk, cream, yoghurt etc. into their mouths several times each day.

.............but unlike youself I do not make insane calls for legislation to prevent them from doing this.

WHEN Halal and Kosher slaughter get banned throughout Europe I expect that you'll be on your high horse there in Hong Kong campaigning for their reinstatement in the name of 'multiculturalism'. You're like a student lefite who squeals 'Nazi' or 'fascist' at anyone who exposes your hypocrisy. Anyway, I have better things to do with my time than argue with a hypocrite in a foreign country.

Oh and as for your sarcasm about a thousand people signing the petition, most petitions to Downing Street don't even get that. How about you tell all of those 1,215 people who signed the petition that they are 'sickos', 'Nazis' or whatever other puerile insult comes to your warped mind.
JohnnySensible at 06/12/2011 10:04:20
Only bigots /nut jobs would waste their time signing such a petition.

I will be happy to respond to any of them - it is easy to contact me via my profile here.

2 examples of wonderfully amusing 'abuse' of Guardian reading liberal lefties.

Quotes from George Orwell - having a good laugh at UK / London veg*n's in the 1930's!

+ One sometimes gets the impression that the mere words "Socialism" and "Communism" draw towards them with magnetic force every fruit juice drinker, nudist, sandal wearer, sex-maniac, Quaker, "Nature Cure" quack, pacifist and feminist in England. +

+ For instance, I have here a prospectus from another summer school which states its terms per week and then asks me to say 'whether my diet is ordinary or vegetarian'. They take it for granted, you see, that it is necessary to ask this question. This kind of thing is by itself sufficient to alienate plenty of decent people. And their instinct
is perfectly sound, for the food-crank is by definition a person willing to cut himself off from human society in hopes of adding five years on to the life of his carcass; that is, a person out of touch with common humanity. +

... both are in Orwell's book "The Road to Wigan Pier", 1937, Chapter 11.
Double Dare's use of the English language is much less pleasant to read.

I have very clear memories of Enoch Powell - my fascist mother worshipped him - he was the MP of Wolverhampton South West - the next constituency to ours.

Slaughter is violence against non-humans, regardless of which "religion" one practices. Some truths cannot be swept under the carpet, so people merely complain and scream "religious discrimination!" whenever their "habits" are logically challenged. It's just that simple.
