Raw Foods for healing
Posted by joshrawla at 10/16/2007
Has anyone seen the trailer for "Raw For 30 Days". It's a documentary about Six people who normally eat fast food, who try going 100% raw for a month. It features doctors, experts, and raw foodists who are interviewed including Gabriel Cousens, MD, David Wolfe, and Woody Harrelson.
I am new to raw foods and very interested in hearing from others who are raw foodists and people who are trying to change their lives for the better. Many people in my family have diabetes and I have changed my diet and gone raw to prevent myself from also getting diabetes.

I'm very familiar with raw foods. I've been subscribing to the raw lifestyle since 2003. I'm not 100 percent because when I am I lose too much weight.
But I do eat raw as much as possible and I feel it helps my health tremendously.
I guess the best thing I can say about eating raw is focus on organic salads and some dehydrated treats. Don't over-do it with dried fruits. Raw kombucha tea helps my health a lot too. It's an all-natural anti-inflammatory and I heal from injuries very quickly. I also had the misfortune of getting adult chickenpox last spring. But thanks to my healthy lifestyle, it only lasted TWO DAYS! I totally confused three doctors and healed without medication :)
Another thing I've learned is that it's not all about food. It's about love and life itself. Enjoy your food but don't become militant about it :)
I wish you and your family the best. My grandmother died from diabetes complications. Had I known about raw foods earlier, perhaps she would still be alive today.
I had not heard of raw foods until recently and i am anxious to learn more about this lifestyle. I found that the website www.rawsummit2.com/. The site is hosting a Raw Summit where each evening beginning November 15th through December 1st you can log in and listen to interviews with raw food experts and best of all it is free!
Thanks for sharing those links, Josh. And, congrats to you 'Healthy' on what you have been able to do for your health!
I, too, have only just recently began my raw food lifestyle. I do not have any particular health concerns (and never have, with the exception of high cholesterol - which I do not necessarily believe is truly a bad thing because I believe all people are affected differently by elevated levels of cholesterol and not all those ways are necessarily detrimental to good health... but, I digress), but I can now see how cooking kills enzymes and reduces the nutrient value of our already nutrient-deficient foods. And, I am eating this way to prolong life and the quality of life and aid in my life goal to attain true spiritual enlightenment.
Peace and Love,
