About: Pythagoras of Samos is an Ionian (Greek) philosopher and founder of Pythagoreanism, a religious movement. In the late 6th century BC, he made influential contributions to philosophy and religious teaching. However, he is best known for the Pythagorean theorem.

The Pythagorean theorem is a relation in Euclidean geometry among the three sides of a right triangle. Pythagoras is credited with its discovery and proof.

More than a mystic and scientist, Pythagoras is often revered as a great mathematician, the first pure mathematician, and the "father of numbers."
