According to imdb.com: "He used to be a vegetarian, but he had to go back to eating meat when he was filming The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)." It doesn't explain why that was, but I'd certainly heard this rumour before. Maybe needs checking out and taking him off this list.

When he did an interview about making Kingdom of Heaven, he talked about eating goats. So I think that pretty much rules him out as a vegetarian.
